San Juan County Public Health Order Changes

In response to the Public Health Order issued on November 11, 2020, San Juan County is moving to  limited essential services, across all county departments. County Staff will maintain essential county services, while observing COVID Safe Practices in the workplace, and county buildings will remain closed to the public.

From San Juan County, NM:

Aztec, NM—San Juan County will continue to serve the public, and fire and law enforcement response 
remains
uninterrupted, however, many County services will be limited, starting on Monday, November 16, 
2020.

In response to the Public Health Order issued on November 11, 2020, San Juan County is moving to 
limited essential services, across all county departments. County Staff will maintain essential 
county services, while observing COVID Safe Practices in the workplace, and county buildings will 
remain closed to the public.

The hours of operation for county services will remain the same for essential services. Departments 
are offering services over the phone. Some services may be available online. For questions, please 
call the County switchboard, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm at (505) 334-9481.

Property taxes may be paid online at SJCounty.net/PayMyTax or using the drop box at the east end of 
the San Juan County Administration building in Aztec.

Riverview Golf Course will be closed until further notice. McGee Park will also remain closed.

Solid Waste stations will remain open on a normal schedule, with the exception of Solid Waste 
Stations on the Navajo Nation, which will close in compliance with any Navajo Nation curfew orders.

Moving levels is urgently needed to flatten case growth in La Plata County. The disease is prevalent enough in the community that it is leading to daily exposures and staff quarantines in all types of workplaces, including agencies providing critical services.

  • Navajo Nation Announces 3-week Stay-At-Home Order

    Only essential businesses will be allowed to operate during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (MST) daily – weekdays and weekends. All essential businesses including gas stations, grocery stores, laundromats, and restaurants and food establishments are required to ensure employees and customers wear masks, practice social distancing, disinfect high-touch surfaces, access to hand wash stations, sanitizers and gloves, and limit the number of customers in any enclosed areas. Restaurants and food establishments must operate on a curbside or drive-thru basis only.

  • NM Shuts Down: Gov. Unveils Strict COVID-19 Rules Nov. 16-30

    The worsening state of emergency throughout New Mexico necessitates severe public health restrictions as the state records unsustainable rates of new infections of COVID-19 and hospitals throughout the state approach or exceed capacity for bed availability and staffing resources. New Mexico’s rolling 7-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 1,012, nearly 10 times greater than the state’s target for a safe “reopening” process. The total COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state have risen at least 214 percent over the most recent four weeks.

  • FMS: All Students Switch to Remote Learning November 30, 2020

    FMS will continue to serve free breakfast, lunch and snacks to all children ages 1-18 at curbside locations through November 20. On Friday, November 20, FMS will offer 7-day meal packets for families to utilize through the week of November 23-27 from 3-4:30 at four locations - Central Kitchen, Bluffview Elementary, Tibbetts Middle School and Piedra Vista High School. On Monday, November 30, free meals will continue to be served at the FMS curbside locations and select delivery sites.
