Aztec Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

The San Juan County Sheriff's office says Joaquin Aguilar of Aztec was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he died.  The crash was reported at 2:48pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

An Aztec man, riding a motorcycle, was killed Saturday when his bike collided with a car at the intersection of NM 516 and CR350 in Flora Vista.  The San Juan County Sheriff's office says Joaquin Aguilar of Aztec was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he died.  The crash was reported at 2:48pm on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

No other injuries were reported.  The San Juan County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate what happened.

    The initial investigation indicated a 1990 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, driven by Ronald Martinez (59) of Farmington, NM, was traveling north in the left lane on U.S. Route 550 when his motorcycle struck a deer that had ran across the roadway.

    The arrest stemmed from an incident in which Samuel Gooch made arrangements via a telephone call to take possession of a firearm which Mark Gooch had given to a 3rd party. Samuel flew from Wisconsin to Phoenix with another family member for this meeting. Detectives, working with AFOSI Agents, facilitated the meeting in which Samuel took possession of the firearm he believed to be the one belonging to Mark.
