US 491 & US 64 Delays Oct. 28-30

Motorists are advised of delays from US 491 North at Littlewater to Shiprock and then West on US 64 to the Arizona state line Oct. 28-30. Crews will be moving a large transformer, one of the heaviest loads ever to be trucked through New Mexico.

Santa Fe–The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) advises motorists that one of the largest transformers will be moving through New Mexico. 

 

On Wednesday night, October 28, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to the morning of October 29, at 6:00 a.m., the northbound lanes on U.S. 491 from mile marker 69.0 (Little Water) to mile marker 91.0 (Shiprock) will be DELAYED.  Motorists are urged to plan ahead or seek an alternate route.


On Friday, October 30, 2015, the Intersection of U.S. 491 / U.S. 64 will temporarily be CLOSED from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

 

On Friday, October 30, 2015, the eastbound and westbound lanes on U.S. 64 from mile marker 21.0 (Shiprock) to mile marker 0.00 (Border of New Mexico & Arizona) will temporarily be CLOSED from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Motorists are urged to plan ahead or seek an alternate route

 

NMDOT has been assured that the transportation won’t affect emergency vehicles. The New Mexico State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau will escort the caravan along all NM and US routes.

 

There will be one truck pulling and five trucks pushing this load. The load has the following dimensions:

Weight                 1,753,680 pounds
