Update: Suspect Charged In Fatal Stabbing

Detectives with the Farmington Police Department have identified the suspect in yesterday’s fatal stabbing as 26-year-old Derrick Charley. Charley was arrested on the warrant and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center.

Update from Farmington Police:

Detectives with the Farmington Police Department have identified the suspect in yesterday’s fatal stabbing as 26-year-old Derrick Charley. Officers were dispatched around 6:22 p.m. to 1205 River Road in reference to a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene they located a male who had been stabbed. The man has been identified as 37-year-old Hector Luna-Holguin. Medics transported him to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Charley was located in the area and taken into custody. A warrant was issued for his arrest on an open count of homicide. Charley was arrested on the warrant and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center.

 

This incident remains under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.

Farmington police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred this evening at Berg Park East. Officers were dispatched at approximately 6:22 p.m. to 1205 River Road in reference to a stabbing. When officers arrived on scene, they located a 37-year-old male who had been stabbed. The man was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, a 26-year-old male, was located in the area and taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.

    The investigation by the Farmington Fire Department in conjunction with the assistance of the San Juan County Fire Department and the Farmington Police Department has determined the fire was intentionally set, causing significant damage to the church. The investigation remains ongoing in an attempt to identify and arrest subject(s) responsible for the fire.

  • Farmington Man Suspected of Arson

    Farmington detectives identified Montano as the suspect through video surveillance and body camera footage from officers who saw the suspect riding a bicycle away from the scene of two of the fires. Officers located Montano on July 8 and detained him for questioning. He was subsequently arrested on a warrant for three counts of arson at 709 Orchard Homes Dr., 301 Airport Dr. and 621 W. Animas St. No one was injured in the fires.

  • Study: Carbon Capture Costs Drop

    The S&L findings, which were made public June 27, 2019 at a United States Energy Association briefing, estimate the cost of CO2 capture to range from $39 to $43 per metric ton, a significant decrease from the last major carbon capture retrofit at the Petra Nova facility in Texas. Given these cost estimates, the $1.3 billion cost to retrofit SJGS can be financed entirely with newly revamped Internal Revenue Code Section 45Q tax credits and will not burden SJGS with additional operating costs.
