Sex Offender re-Arrested in San Juan County

On December 26, 2019, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip from the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office regarding a Farmington resident in possession of child pornography. A search warrant was performed at Keith Johnson’s residence by detectives with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and a cell phone containing child pornography was seized.

On January 2, 2020, Keith Johnson (53) of Farmington, NM was arrested on the charge of sexual exploitation of children (possession, 4th degree felony). On December 26, 2019, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office received a cyber tip from the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office regarding a Farmington resident in possession of child pornography. A search warrant was performed at Johnson’s residence by detectives with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and a cell phone containing child pornography was seized.

Johnson is currently a registered sex offender in San Juan County and has past convictions for criminal sexual contact of a minor (use of force or coercion) and two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor (child under 13).

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
