Farmington, NM – October 25, 2023 – Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) is
excited to kick off the 2023-2024 Community Heating Resource Program today at the Navajo Mine.
The program provides free coal to Navajo families throughout the winter. The program also makes
coal available to some Hopi residents. The new Miss Navajo Nation, Amy Naazbah ReevesBegaye, will be joining NTEC for the opening ceremony at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, October 25.
Coal can be picked up at Navajo Mine from October 25, 2023 through March 30, 2024.
Improvements to the coal yard enable quicker loading of the coal. All Navajo Nation residents are
eligible and can get tickets from their local Navajo chapter. Bulk deliveries will also be made to
individual chapters throughout the season.
CHRP is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, starting on October 25, 2023 and ending on
March 2, 2024. Coal pick-up will be available from 8:00am to 4:00pm, with a lunch break from
12:00-12:30pm. From March 3 through March 30, CHRP will be open on Fridays and Saturdays
only.
