From the San Juan County Sheriff's Office

In March 2024, San Juan County Sheriff's Office detectives received a cyber tip from the New Mexico Attorney General's Office regarding Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (Child Pornography). After an extensive investigation, we identified and subsequently arrested Farmington man, Jacob Marriott on February 11th 2025.

While executing a search warrant, multiple devices were found containing thousands of photos and videos of child sex abuse material, including images of an underaged girl that had been taken without her knowledge.

Earlier this week, Jacob Marriott was sentenced after pleading guilty to 4 counts of Manufacturing of Child Pornography (2nd Degree Felony), 1 count of Possession of Child Pornography (4th Degree Felony), and 2 counts of Voyeurism of a Child Under 18 (3rd Degree Felony). Judge Gurley sentenced him to 61 years in prison with lifetime sex offender registration upon his release.

"We appreciate the sentence that Judge Gurley passed down this week. It is a testament to how seriously we take crimes against children here in San Juan County" said Sheriff Shane Ferrari. "Anyone who hurts our children should expect to experience the full weight of justice. For the victim’s sake, I hope Jacob Marriot serves every single day of his 61 year sentence.”
