  • Adopt-A-Pet Tuesday! : With Amber Francisco

During an Adopt-a-Pet Tuesday segment on KSJE, Farmington Regional Animal Shelter representative Amber Francisco highlighted three dogs available for adoption: Bran, a playful pit-heeler mix who has spent more than 324 days at the shelter; Toby, a cheerful mixed breed who loves other dogs; and Goose, an affectionate shepherd mix eager for a forever home. Francisco encouraged potential adopters to meet dogs outside their kennels so their personalities can shine, and noted that the shelter recently celebrated more than 95 adoptions during its Empty the Shelters event. She also reminded listeners that the shelter will remain open throughout Memorial Day weekend during Riverfest for visitors interested in walking or adopting a pet.

Sims, a retired Army combat medic and three-time Purple Heart recipient, shared his experiences serving in Iraq and explained the importance of communities recognizing and supporting veterans’ sacrifices. The ceremony, open to the public, will feature speakers, flag ceremonies, a 21-gun salute, and celebrations of Farmington’s strong support for veterans and military families

  • San Juan Regional Medical Center "EMS Service" : With William Coker, Sheridan Peterson, & Scott Michlin

Representatives from San Juan Regional Medical Center discussed the importance of EMS services during National EMS Week, emphasizing when people should call 911 for true emergencies such as strokes, heart attacks, severe bleeding, and major trauma. They explained that EMS crews in San Juan County cover a huge 5,500-square-mile area with only about eight ambulances available at a time, responding to more than 22,000 calls each year.
The interview also highlighted the advanced training EMS personnel receive, the challenges of long shifts and staffing shortages, and the life-saving care paramedics can provide before patients reach the hospital. Finally, the speakers encouraged the public to support EMS workers during EMS Week and reminded drivers to pull over and stop for emergency vehicles so crews can respond safely and quickly.
