Navajo Nation Police Officer Dies after Shooting

Navajo Nation Police Officer Houston James Largo, 27, has passed away after a shooting early Sunday morning near Prewitt, NM. Houston James Largo was a decorated officer with five years of service. The case remains under investigation.

PREVIOUS PRESS RELEASE:

The FBI and Navajo Nation are investigating a shooting that critically injured a Navajo Police Officer.
The officer was shot while responding to a domestic violence call near Prewitt, New Mexico, on the Navajo Nation, early Sunday morning.
A suspect is in custody.

The officer was airlifted to the University of New Mexico Hospital.
The New Mexico State Police and McKinley County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.

Suspect Arrested after Sexual Assault

During the investigation, officers learned that a male and female who knew each other had been in the area of the disc golf course. Neither individual was a student or staff member of San Juan College. The female victim reported that an altercation occurred between her and the male, Tyson Saggboy. She reported that Saggboy battered her, removed her clothing, and strangled her before fleeing the scene.
