Woman Injured in Shooting, Suspect Arrested

As three individuals tried to leave a party, a male subject began shooting, unintentionally striking the vehicle and, subsequently, a passenger inside the vehicle. The passenger was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center and later transported to UNM in Albuquerque, where she is awake and in stable condition.

In the early hours of Sunday, 09/14/2025, deputies were dispatched to a report of a shooting between Bloomfield and Blanco. As three individuals tried to leave a party, a male subject began shooting, unintentionally striking the vehicle and, subsequently, a passenger inside the vehicle. The passenger was transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center and later transported to UNM in Albuquerque, where she is awake and in stable condition.

.During the ongoing investigation, a male, Zachery Quintana, was discovered to have brandished and fired a firearm during the party and multiple casings matching the caliber of that firearm were discovered on the scene. Zachery Quintana was found in his residence and taken into custody by detectives. It was discovered that he had multiple warrants out for his arrest, and he was booked at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center on those warrants, along with new charges:

1 Warrant for Driving while License Revoked (DWI Related)

1 Warrant for Reckless Driving

1 Warrant for Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer

(4th Degree Felony)

2 Warrants for Failure to Appear

1 Warrant for Failure to Comply

2 Counts of Aggravated Assault (4th Degree

Felony)

Aggravated Battery (3rd Degree Felony)

Negligent Use of a Deadly Weapon (Petty)

Shooting At or From a Motor Vehicle (Causing Injury) (3rd

Degree Felony)

Tampering with Evidence (4th Degree Felony)

Officers gave commands for Leon Quintana (27) to place his hands on his head and walk backward toward them. During the encounter, Mr. Quintana hesitated and shifted his movements while officers continued giving commands. He then produced a firearm and fired a shot toward officers, striking an officer’s patrol car. A second shot was also fired.
