Music in the Mountains is honored to have been selected by the State of Colorado Tourism Office as the recognized event for Southwest Colorado as part of the statewide Colorado 150/250 Celebration Initiative. To mark this extraordinary year of statewide and national milestones, including Music in the Mountains’ own 40th anniversary, Music in the Mountains will partner with Durango Snowdown to present a dazzling 500-drone aerial show during the Snowdown Light Parade on Friday, January 30, at 6:00 PM sharp.

This will be the largest drone show Durango has ever presented, transforming the winter night into a spectacular canvas of light, artistry, and imagination.

“We are thrilled to partner with Durango Snowdown and Colorado’s statewide tourism office in bringing this once-in-a-generation celebration to our community,” said Angie Beach, Executive Director of Music in the Mountains. “It is a privilege to represent our region in Colorado’s year-long 150/250 festivities and to share this spectacular moment with our neighbors, visitors, and supporters. This is made even more special because this year is also a major milestone for Music in the Mountains as we celebrate our 40th anniversary season.”

As the parade moves through downtown Durango, the 14-minute drone performance will lift into the sky near the end of the procession, where, for one magical moment, the stars above will dance in recognition of the stars of Music in the Mountains. Choreographed with precision and flown by 500 synchronized drones, the show will feature imagery inspired by Colorado heritage, our state’s history, and the musical spirit of Music in the Mountains.

This special presentation is made possible through the generous support of the State of Colorado, the Colorado 150/250 Celebration Initiative, and supporting sponsors who share a commitment to honoring Colorado’s past, present, and future through creativity and community collaboration.

Music in the Mountains encourages paradegoers to arrive early, dress warmly, and look up—way up—as Durango kicks off this milestone year together.
