Child Sex Abuse Arrest

On December 18, 2015, Deputies were notified that Michael McKinney had molested his 12 year-old stepson in 2010. Detectives were able to find Michael who then agreed to speak with them. During the interview Michael confessed to the crime and told detectives that he was sorry for what he did.

On December 18, 2015, Deputies were notified that Michael McKinney had molested his 12 year-old stepson in 2010.

Detectives were able to find Michael who then agreed to speak with them. During the interview Michael confessed to the crime and told detectives that he was sorry for what he did.

Detectives completed an arrest warrant for Michael and he was arrested. Michael McKinney was booked into San Juan County Detention Center for five counts of Criminal Penetration of a minor under 13 and is being held on a $100,000.00 cash only bond.

The suspect, John Hannon, the child’s father, was arrested on 2/9/26 on unrelated charges. He was served with the following charges while at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center:

Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside. Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
