NM-backed expansion expected to generate more than $22 million economic impact

Colorado-based manufacturer Durango Machining Innovations (DMI) is expanding into Farmington, creating 22 high-wage jobs and supporting the growth of advanced manufacturing in the Four Corners region.

DMI secured a 16-acre property just north of Farmington last July to support the expansion. The project is backed by $250,000 in funding through the Local Economic Development Act (LEDA), the state's primary economic development incentive program, and is projected to generate more than $22 million in total economic impact over 10 years.

“New Mexico is backing companies that are ready to grow in our communities,” said Economic Development Cabinet Secretary Rob Black. “This investment strengthens advanced manufacturing in the Four Corners region and supports high-quality jobs for New Mexicans.”

“This project allows us to grow, innovate and deliver at a new scale,” said Reed Duvall, CFO of Durango Machining Innovations. “We're proud to expand in Farmington and create new opportunities for skilled workers.”

The expansion site includes an existing building that will be renovated for machining operations, along with a new 11,000-square-foot facility to house specialized manufacturing equipment. The project will increase DMI’s production capacity and support a broader range of industrial fabrication and machining services.

As operations ramp up in 2026, DMI will grow its workforce to support equipment installation, testing and full-scale production. The expansion is expected to enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities while creating new opportunities for skilled workers in the region.

Durango Begins Water Restrictions

Irrigation for lawns accounts for 70% of Durango’s water usage, so outdoor landscape will be limited to three days a week between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. for both residential and commercial users. Odd-numbered addresses are restricted to watering on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Even-numbered addresses are restricted to watering on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Outdoor landscape irrigation is prohibited during all hours on Wednesdays.
Police ID Suspect and Officers involved in Hines Rd. Shooting

Upon arrival, officers observed a male and female walking who matched the provided descriptions. Officers gave commands for Leon Quintana (27) to place his hands on his head and walk backward toward them. During the encounter, Mr. Quintana hesitated and shifted his movements while officers continued giving commands. He then produced a firearm and fired a shot toward officers, striking an officer’s patrol car. A second shot was also fired.
