Showers, Water Available to AVW Customers

• McGee Park RV fill stations open all hours – after 5pm go around the parking area (toward the Colosseum) to the guard station for assistance • City of Aztec RV fill station on Chaco Street in front of the Aztec Police Department – open all hours • McGee Park Showers (at the Colosseum) open – 5am to 8pm • Bottled water will be available at the Animas Valley Water office – 41 RD 3900 and the McGee Park Office

From the San Juan County Office of Emergency Management:

Over the weekend some customers of the Animas Valley Water System were without water. In response to the outage, San Juan County made the following services available:
• McGee Park RV fill stations open all hours – after 5pm go around the parking area (toward the Colosseum) to the guard station for assistance
• City of Aztec RV fill station on Chaco Street in front of the Aztec Police Department – open all hours
• McGee Park Showers (at the Colosseum) open – 5am to 8pm
• Bottled water will be available at the Animas Valley Water office – 41 RD 3900 and the McGee Park Office (limited quantities – take some leave some for your neighbors)


The “Boil Water Advisory” is still in effect for those who have water from the Animas Valley Water System.
Updates are being made as they become available on the San Juan County OEM Facebook page and can be viewed on the main SJCOEM web page (www.sjcoem.com).

  • Arrest Made after Durango Rec Center Damaged by Gunfire

    The initial call was received at 5:23 AM. The individual was identified from video surveillance. The male was contacted by Durango Police Department Patrol and is now in custody. He has been identified as Joe Brinkerhoff, a resident of the City of Durango. Due to a prior incident, Joe Brinkerhoff was trespassed from the property and his Rec Center privileges were suspended.

  • Police Arrest Woman for Husband's Fatal Stabbing 5 years ago

    After a thorough and ongoing investigation by detectives and working with the district attorney's office, a thorough review of the case was conducted, and the decision to proceed with criminal charges was made. A warrant was issued to charge Heather Fernandez-Hoefer. She was taken into custody without incident on April 1, 2025.

  • Update: Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting

    Upon arrival, deputies made contact with multiple individuals including juveniles and young adults and located a deceased individual identified as Samuell Tariq Liggins, age 20.
