Woman Killed in Bloomfield Crash

When crossing the east bound lanes of Broadway, the van was struck by an east bound 2003 GMC SUV. After the initial collision, the GMC SUV continued traveling into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 1990 Honda Civic.  The driver of the civic, Margarita Mossburg (54) of Farmington, NM sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

On August 17, 2020, at about 8:00 p.m. the New Mexico State Police responded to a fatal crash involving three vehicles in front of the Dollar General located at 1001 East Broadway Boulevard in Bloomfield.

 

The initial investigation indicates that a 2008 Dodge van was leaving the Dollar General parking lot turning across the east lanes of Broadway to go west on Broadway.  When crossing the east bound lanes of Broadway, the van was struck by an east bound 2003 GMC SUV. After the initial collision, the GMC SUV continued traveling into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 1990 Honda Civic.  The driver of the civic, Margarita Mossburg (54) of Farmington, NM sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator. 

 

The other two drivers were transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.  Their conditions are not known.  Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly utilized. This crash is still under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
