Pending a determination of the cause of death by the Office of the Medical Investigator, the incident is currently being treated as a suspicious death. The name of the deceased will be released pending all notifications.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of a body found near Sandalwood Park.

At approximately 10:37am on Wednesday, April 13, law enforcement was dispatched to a vehicle located near Sandalwood Park where a body was found by law enforcement while responding to the abandoned vehicle. Pending a determination of the cause of death by the Office of the Medical Investigator, the incident is currently being treated as a suspicious death. The name of the deceased will be released pending all notifications.

San Juan County Sheriff’s Office detectives continue to investigate this incident and follow up on leads developed through the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the SJCSO Detectives Tip Line at 505-333-7878.

Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside. Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
