Kirtland Man Accused of Shooting Girlfriend, Self

The female was in stable condition and able to speak to investigators. Due to his injuries, Roquemore is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment. A warrant for his arrest on the charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is pending and Roquemore will be taken into custody upon release from the hospital.

On April 4, 2020 at approximately 7:38am, deputies were dispatched to a residence on CR 6100 in Kirtland, NM in reference to a shooting of a male and female. The preliminary investigation revealed that 29-year-old, Blaine Roquemore fired one round at a female in the residence, striking her in the chest. After Roquemore shot the female, he shot himself in the chest and fell to the ground. The female was able to contact another individual in the residence and asked them to call 911. When deputies and medics arrived on scene, both individuals were immediately transported to San Juan Regional Medical Center for treatment. The female was in stable condition and able to speak to investigators. Due to his injuries, Roquemore is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment. A warrant for his arrest on the charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is pending and Roquemore will be taken into custody upon release from the hospital.

    The rescue effort also received substantial financial support, from various donors. This outside support significantly reduced the financial impact on local resources and ensured the operation did not place a major burden on San Juan County taxpayers.

  • Resident Dies after House Fire N. of Aztec

    Crews arrived to find a structure on fire and the occupant inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews and efforts by San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputies, one occupant was removed from the structure by firefighters and transported to the hospital by San Juan Regional Medical Center EMS. The occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.
