On August 29, 2024, Detectives and USMS investigative efforts tracked the suspects to a mobile home in the Waterflow area west of Kirtland New Mexico. San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Police Department, United States Marshals Service and the New Mexico State Police arrived at the location and began to call out Isaiah Brown and Ravyn Burns. Brown fired numerous rounds at deputies and officers. Two deputies and three Farmington officers returned fired in fear for their safety, firing at least one round each. A fire subsequently broke out in the mobile home and Brown and Burns escaped and hid near by while the home continued to burn. Law enforcement provided protection to allow for fire suppression efforts on the burning home. Once the fire was manageable deputies and officers arrested the female. The male who was injured from the previous gunfire, was then retrieved and transported to San Juan Regional with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The home was a complete loss and multiple residents were evacuated during the incident.

Isaiah Brown will be booked on 2nd degree murder (2counts) and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Ravyn Burns was arrested on an outstanding warrant and additional charges may be considered.

The successful apprehension is the result of the investigative efforts of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Police Department, United States Marshals Service, and the New Mexico State Police. Thanks also goes to the San Juan County Fire Department for their service and partnership. There were no injuries to deputies or officers and those who discharged their firearms were placed on standard administrative leave.
