Sheriff's Office Makes Arrests in Bloomfield Double Homicide

On August 29, 2024, Detectives and USMS investigative efforts tracked the suspects to a mobile home in the Waterflow area west of Kirtland New Mexico. San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Police Department, United States Marshals Service and the New Mexico State Police arrived at the location and began to call out Isaiah Brown and Ravyn Burns.

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 7:30 pm law enforcement responded to the area of Road 4909 in reference to two individuals who were reported deceased inside a home. Upon arrival, Bloomfield Police Department and Deputies arrived and confirmed a male and female deceased from gunshot wounds. Names of victims are pending notification of next of kin. Detectives responded and learned that Isaiah Brown and Ravyn Burns had been in a room in the back of the house with the decedents. An argument ensued between Brown and Brown fired, hitting the male and female victims. Brown and Burns fled the scene in a vehicle that belonged to the victims. 

On August 29, 2024, Detectives and USMS investigative efforts tracked the suspects to a mobile home in the Waterflow area west of Kirtland New Mexico. San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Police Department, United States Marshals Service and the New Mexico State Police arrived at the location and began to call out Isaiah Brown and Ravyn Burns. Brown fired numerous rounds at deputies and officers. Two deputies and three Farmington officers returned fired in fear for their safety, firing at least one round each. A fire subsequently broke out in the mobile home and Brown and Burns escaped and hid near by while the home continued to burn. Law enforcement provided protection to allow for fire suppression efforts on the burning home. Once the fire was manageable deputies and officers arrested the female. The male who was injured from the previous gunfire, was then retrieved and transported to San Juan Regional with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The home was a complete loss and multiple residents were evacuated during the incident.  

Isaiah Brown will be booked on 2nd degree murder (2counts) and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. Ravyn Burns was arrested on an outstanding warrant and additional charges may be considered. 

The successful apprehension is the result of the investigative efforts of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Police Department, United States Marshals Service, and the New Mexico State Police. Thanks also goes to the San Juan County Fire Department for their service and partnership. There were no injuries to deputies or officers and those who discharged their firearms were placed on standard administrative leave.

San Juan County Fire & Rescue responded with mutual aid from the Bloomfield Fire Department.   Crews arrived to find an RV on fire and the occupant still inside.  Despite a quick response from fire crews, the RV was a total loss, and an occupant was found dead after the fire was extinguished.

    The need for the route was identified in the Statewide Public Transportation Plan and will run between Albuquerque, Farmington, Bernalillo, Cuba and into Durango, CO. The new service line will run five days a week, with one round trip each day, providing access to Navajo Transit and Red Apple Transit in Farmington.

  • Two Fatally Shot in Durango, Suspect Shoots Self

    Durango Police say that both victims from Monday night's shooting, Shelby Campbell (32) and Emma Sims (32),  have passed away from their injuries. The suspect, Bradley Campbell (32), remains on life support with a gunshot wound to the head.  Durango Police Detectives continue to investigate this incident, but there is no indication that anyone else was involved.

  • Update: Driver Cited for Street Racing (video)

    The driver of the red Toyota Supra, 22-year-old Kalynn Kenworthy, was charged with racing on highways. Kenworthy has an extensive history of traffic violations, including citations for racing in August 2025 and in 2023, as well as more than seven speeding citations within the past four years, each averaging more than 15 mph over the posted speed limit. Additional charges are pending against the driver of the white passenger car.
